The Nominations Committee shall solicit names and qualification of qualified candidates for elective positions to this Association. This committee shall send each active and emeritus member an official ballot with candidates for each elective office and count all ballots. The committee will then announce the count and elected officials at the Annual Meeting.

The Bylaws Committee shall examine all proposed amendments to the Bylaws of this Association, making changes in such proposed as may be necessary to put them in proper form without altering their intent, and shall submit them to the Board for approval.

The Publications Committee shall be responsible for the official publication of this Association. The Chairman of this committee shall serve as the managing editor of the publication. Currently our newsletter is distributed electronically. Members of this committee could assist in writing articles and editing the publication.

The Membership Committee shall plan ways and means of increasing membership of the Association. Members of this committee can assist in contacting lapsed members, brainstorming ideas for advertising the Association, and recruiting new members.

The Education Committee shall be responsible for planning and implementing Student Bowl activities at the State level according to established guidelines. The Committee shall keep a current list of funds available for scholarships available through the Association. Members of this committee can create new Student Bowl questions, create Student Bowl games, and assist in the Student Bowl activities at the Annual Meeting.

The Government Affairs Committee shall be the liaison of the Association to the ASCLS office, shall receive, respond to , and disseminate for response all ASCLS legislative alerts and items regarding Governmental and/or legislative activities. This committee also monitors State Legislative Affairs. The Committee shall maintain a generic format for proposing and pursuing state legislation advantageous to the profession of Clinical Laboratory Science and the health of the states’s citizens. Members of this committee can advise members of the current issues, such as licensure, that the Association is working on and the individuals in the State Legislature that members should contact. Members of this committee can also coordinate visits to State Legislators offices, State Committee hearings, and other legislative activities.

The Leadership Development Committee is responsible for the development and implementation of the the TACLS Leadership Academy. The first class began in 2011 and will graduate in March of 2012. This committee develops the application process, selects qualified applicants, develops curriculum for the Academy, and mentors the members of the Academy.
