Sciences Faculty Positions
The University of Texas-Pan American invites applications for two
faculty positions, a re-advertised 9-month Non-Tenure Track Renewable
Lecturer Position and a newly authorized Assistant Professor, Tenure
Track Position available Fall, 2004. The University is located in
Edinburg, Texas, a city of approximately 50,000 people and one of the
many cities located in the beautiful Rio Grande Valley in South Texas.
Specifically, Edinburg is located on the southern tip of Texas in a
semi-tropical climate 230 miles south of San Antonio, and easily
accessible to the beaches of South Padre Island.
Responsibilities for both positions include teaching, service, and
advisement activities. Candidates for the tenure track position are
expected to demonstrate evidence of potential for the scholarly
activity required for tenure track appointment.
Required: Applicants for both positions must hold generalist
certification as MT(ASCP) or CLS (NCA), a masters degree and recent
professional experience. Exceptional candidates with a bachelors
degree, appropriate certification and 18 graduate hours may be
considered for the lecturer position. Candidates for the lecturer
position should demonstrate recent experience which enables them to
teach clinical microbiology and at least one other area. Candidates
for the tenure track position should demonstrate experience which
enables them to teach in areas compatible with the strengths of the
existing faculty.
Preferred: Previous teaching experience, good communication
skills, knowledge of accreditation requirements, familiarity with
multicultural environments and distance learning and technology.
Salary commensurate with qualifications. Review of applications will
