The Texas Association for Clinical Laboratory Science-Rio Grande District 16 will be holding their 6th annual 3-man Florida Scramble Golf Tournament at the Tierra del Sol Golf Club in Pharr. The date of the event is Saturday, March 31, 2001 with a check-in time of 7:30 a.m. and a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. The first, second and third place teams will win cash prizes of $600, $450, and $300, respectively. Prizes will be paid in merchandise from Tierra del Sol Golf Club for closest to the pin on all par 3's and longest drive. The entry fee for the tournament is $50.00 per player, which includes food and drink. A hole sponsorship is $300 and includes a 3- man team. To register, or for more details, please call the Tierra del Sol Golf Club at 956-702-2320 before 12:00 noon on March 30, 2001. Proceeds from the tournament will be split between the Children's Miracle Network (CMN) and the Shari Hall Scholarship Fund. The Shari Hall Scholarship fund provides scholarships to students enrolled in the CLS and CLT Programs at the University of Texas-Pan American and the University of Texas-Brownsville. The fund is named in honor of Shari Hall, MA. MT(ASCP), a former Faculty Member in both programs. The District has been holding yearly fundraisers for this scholarship fund since 1993. This is the first year that part of the proceeds will be donated to the Children's Miracle Network. The District is working with the local CMN Coordinator to provide publicity for the event and to highlight the important role that laboratory professionals have in the healthcare team.
